Taking action as a citizen in today’s political world is more important than ever. When we raise our voices, cast our votes, and stay engaged, we help shape policies and decisions that directly impact our communities. For Oregon, active civic participation means stronger schools, healthier environments, more equitable opportunities, and a government that truly reflects the values and needs of its people. When we get involved, we’re not just reacting, we’re building a better, brighter future for everyone who calls this state home.

ACT NOW

*Call to Action: Protect the Supreme Court — Urge Co-Sponsorship of SJR 16*

NOW is the time to act. We need every member to contact key U.S. Senators and urge them to co-sponsor SJR 16, the constitutional amendment to keep the United States Supreme Court at nine justices.

When the Virginia Supreme Court did its job, upholding the state Constitution and striking down an improperly executed redistricting referendum, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries didn't accept the rule of law. Instead, he participated in a private call with Virginia Democratic members of Congress where the group discussed a jaw-dropping scheme: lowering the mandatory retirement age for Virginia Supreme Court justices from 73 to 54, which would have forcibly removed every sitting justice on the court, including the first Black female Chief Justice, so Democrats could install a new, hand-picked court that would deliver the partisan ruling they wanted. The proposal, which was floated in The Down-ballot and quickly went viral among national Democrats, was only abandoned after Virginia Senate Majority Leader Scott Surovell warned it would be "a pretty extreme overreaction" and Governor Abigail Spanberger flatly said "no." Virginia Senate Minority Leader Ryan McDougle said the scheme was "a brazen assault on our democracy" and that "our founders are rolling in their graves." This is the modern Democrat Party in a nutshell: when courts apply the Constitution as written and elections don't go their way, they don't respect the outcome, they try to rig the system. Our Founding Fathers designed an independent judiciary as a bulwark against exactly this kind of political manipulation, and it is precisely why the National Federation of Republican Women is fighting to keep the federal Supreme Court protected at nine justices through SJR 16 — because Democrats have made it crystal clear they will pack, purge, or dismantle any court that stands between them and power.

Maintaining nine justices is essential to preserving the stability, integrity, and independence of our highest court. Expanding the Court would open the door to political manipulation and undermine public trust in our judicial system.

What You Can Do:

  • Call or email the senators listed below today

  • Ask them directly to co-sponsor SJR 16

Emphasize that protecting the Court from expansion is critical to safeguarding our Constitution and conservative principles.
